Many famous writers of the “Romantic” period visited Bacharach , Heinrich Heine, Clemens of Brentano and Victor Hugo. The picturesque Wine town "breathes" Middle Ages”. A wine market first took place here in the year 1310. The view of the town is dominated by “Stahleck” castle and the  Gothic “Wernerkapelle” as well as the preserved town wall a with number defensive towers

Other impressive half-timbered buildings to be found in Bacharach are the “Altes Haus”, the old mint and the Posthof.

 

Activities

Walking - and bicycle tours by the side of the  Rhine along the B9 or B42 in the direction of Koblenz or Mainz or with the CAR along the “Rheinhöhen” and from there onward by foot or by bicycle. Bicycle hire is possible for guests.
